KBBTV Episode 2 - Series 2
In episode 2 of Kochie’s Business Builders TV Series 2, we focus on a couple of business issues that effect many small or medium-sized businesses that are entering the 'take off' phase. These are: managing the growth of their business, by taking on new staff, and facing the daunting prospect of exporting.
In this episode we revisit fashion designers Bridget Yorston and Becky Cooper from Bec and Bridge
In Part 1 Kochie catches up with the girls and finds out how the business has been going since we first met them a couple of years ago. The business is experiencing enormous growth, so we've sent in small business consultant Linda Hailey to discuss how to go about finding a new employee.
In Part 2 Linda suggests that Bridget and Becky breakdown the various job roles in the business so they can determine what they want their new employee to do. She also suggests that a person with a fashion industry background isn't necessarily the right choice for their business.
In Part 3, Austrade's chief economist Tim Harcourt drops by to give some tips on exporting. Tim discusses the international markets that the girls are targeting. He says he can arrange an export advisor from Austrade to help them with trade shows and an Export Marketing Development Grant. Tim also discusses other ways Austrade can help new exporters, some of the common mistakes made, and what the eligibility criteria is for an Export Marketing Development Grant.
In Part 4, Kochie drops by to see how Bridget and Becky are getting on since our experts visited the business.
